ECIC participated at the Provincial KZN Manufacturing Indaba, Co-hosted by the DTI and the Trade and Industry Kwa-Zulu Natal (TKIZN) on the 14 September 2017 at the Durban International Conventional Centre (ICC). The provincial Indaba comes after a successful National Manufacturing Indaba which was held at the country’s manufacturing hub, Ekurhuleni, in June 2017. This is followed by provincial indaba’s in key industrial provinces including KZN, Eastern Cape and the Western Cape.
ECIC Senior Underwriter, Mr. Philemon Thabo Thobane participated in a panel discussion under the topic: “Intra – Africa regional trade – how can manufactures sell their products and services to the African market and develop export led growth”. Financiers, investors, government leaders and industrial manufacturing export companies from the KZN region were attendees at the Indaba.
KwaZulu-Natal is South Africa’s second largest provincial economy, contributing on average 16.0% to the country’s GDP. The province is home to two of Africa’s busiest and largest ports, i.e. Durban and Richards Bay. It also boasts the third highest export propensity and the second highest level of Industrialisation in the country. The province plays a significant role in the export led manufacturing sector.
