Unpacking the AfCFTA for the Timber Processing and Pulp & Paper Sector

ECIC Economist, Marvin Silawule, participated in a webinar on ‘Unpacking the AfCFTA to the Timber Processing and Pulp and Paper sectors‘ hosted by the Paper Manufacturers Association of South Africa (PAMSA) and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) on the 5 October 2023.

The purpose of the webinar was to expose stakeholders in the Timber Processing and Pulp and Paper Sectors to export opportunities that are presented by the AfCFTA. The webinar also updated businesses on the status of the implementation of the AfCFTA. Panellists included Calvin Tshililo Phume, the Director for Africa Bilateral Economic Relations at Trade Branch within the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) and Claudia Furriel, the Director: African Union, at Trade Branch within the dtic. Marvin’s contribution to the panel focused on export finance insurance solutions for the AfCFTA export market.
